Commercial LED Lighting and Retrofits in the Phoenix Valley

Lighting is usually the largest electrical line on a commercial utility bill, and in most Valley buildings it is also the oldest system in the place. At The Wire Guy Electric, we handle LED conversions and new installs for retail, office, warehouse, and industrial spaces across the Valley.

What We Do

• Full LED retrofits. Converting existing fluorescent or HID lighting over to LED, either by replacing fixtures outright or retrofitting the existing housings.
• New installs. Layout and installation for new spaces, buildouts, and expansions.
• High bay and warehouse. Replacing metal halide and high-output fluorescent with LED high bays, which is usually the single biggest efficiency win in an industrial space.
• Troffers and office lighting in drop ceilings.
• Exterior, parking lot, and wall packs, including photocell and timer control.
• Lighting controls. Occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting, and zoning, which commercial energy code increasingly expects.

Why LED Actually Pays Off Here

The energy savings are real, but in Arizona there is a second effect people forget: the lighting you remove was also a heat source. Older fluorescent and metal halide fixtures dump meaningful heat into a conditioned space, and your AC pays to remove it. In a Valley summer that is not a rounding error.

The third saving is labor. Replacing lamps and ballasts across a large space is an ongoing cost that mostly disappears with LED, and in high-ceiling spaces where every replacement means a lift, that alone can justify the project.

Doing the Retrofit Without Closing

Most of these jobs happen in occupied buildings. We phase the work by area, schedule anything disruptive for off-hours, and keep the space usable while the conversion is underway. For retail and restaurants that usually means early mornings or after close, which is a scheduling question rather than a problem.

Getting the Specification Right

• Color temperature chosen for the use, not for whatever was on the shelf. Retail and hospitality generally want warmer light than a warehouse.
• Consistency. Mismatched color across a space is the most common complaint after a partial retrofit done piecemeal.
• Output matched to the task, since more lumens is not automatically better and glare is a real problem in offices.
• Driver quality. The driver is what fails first on a cheap fixture. In a high-ceiling space, a cheap driver is an expensive lift call later.
