Commercial Outlets and Switches in the Phoenix Valley

Every business eventually outgrows the outlets it was built with. New equipment arrives, the layout changes, somebody adds a workstation, and suddenly there is a power strip chain running along a baseboard. At The Wire Guy Electric, we add, replace, and repair receptacles and switches for commercial spaces across the Valley.

What We Install

  • Additional receptacles where the layout changed and the power did not follow
  • Dedicated circuits for equipment that should not share, covered further on our dedicated circuits page
  • GFCI protection in kitchens, restrooms, wet areas, and exteriors
  • Floor boxes and poke-throughs for open-plan offices and conference rooms
  • Furniture and workstation whips feeding modular systems
  • USB and combination devices in lobbies, waiting rooms, and hospitality spaces
  • Switching and controls, including occupancy sensors and timers
  • Weather-rated exterior receptacles in in-use covers

The Power Strip Problem

Almost every commercial space we walk into has at least one. A power strip feeding another power strip, an extension cord run under a rug, or a printer and a space heater sharing a fifteen-amp circuit with six workstations.

It is worth taking seriously, because it is both a fire risk and a code problem that shows up on inspections. It is also usually cheap to fix. Adding the receptacle where the equipment actually lives is generally a small job compared to the risk it removes.

Repairs and Replacements

Commercial devices see far more cycles than residential ones. Switches wear out, receptacles lose grip and stop holding a plug, and connections loosen. A receptacle that no longer grips is not just annoying, it is a heat problem at the contact.

We also replace devices that are simply old: worn, discolored, painted over, or damaged. In customer-facing spaces this is a surprisingly visible detail.
